Magnificat | Saturday 02 December 2023, 8pm | The first concert of the Ottawa Bach Choir's 22nd season begins with Baroque settings of the Magnificat by Jan Dismas Zelenka, Heinrich Biber and Isabella Leonarda, culminating with the original version by Johann Sebastian Bach, composed for his first Christmas in Leipzig in 1723. Also included is the virtuosic cantata for soprano and trumpet, Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen, BWV 51. The Theatre of Early Music baroque orchestra joins the choir, along with soloists from the choir and guests, soprano Myriam Leblanc, countertenor Daniel Taylor, tenor Owen McCausland and bass Alex Dobson. | St Matthew's Anglican Church, 130 Glebe Avenue, Ottawa | Tickets $20 to $55.
