A Lenten Retreat Day | The Way of Empire vs. the Way of Jesus
Throughout North America there is a lively conversation taking place amongst Christian community. Do our churches look like people who follow the way, life, and teachings of Jesus? Or do they resemble the values and way of empire? For many, if not all of us, empire of some sort has influenced our church traditions and behaviours - from the early days of Christianity becoming the state religion in Rome, to our own Anglican ties to the British Empire and colonialism.
On Saturday 09 March, the Rev. Canon Pat Martin and the Rev. Mark Lewis will lead us in a a half-day retreat to teach about this topic and invite us to reflect on our own experiences and practices within the church. We will meet in the Parish Hall from 10am - 2pm. Light refreshment will be provided.
